First look at HBO/Jordan Peele series "Lovecraft Country"

We’re finally getting a trailer for the new horror themed HBO series “Lovecraft Country“. Executive produced by Jordan Peele and J.J. Abrams.

The one-hour drama series based on the 2016 novel by Matt Ruff, follows Atticus Black as he joins his friend Letitia and his Uncle George to embark on a road trip across 1950s Jim Crow America in search of his missing father. What follows is a struggle to survive and overcome both the racist terrors of white America and the terrifying monsters that could be ripped from an H.P. Lovecraft paperback.

This series has a lot going for it. We have loved everything we’ve seen from Jordan Peele so far, and HBO has a history of taking risks on groundbreaking ideas to give creators more control (see: Deadwood, Watchmen, True Detective). Even J.J. Abrams, maybe a little more polarizing with fans, has shown potential in realizing some big ideas in the world of sci-fi and horror. For now we’re pretty optimistic.

Update: Looks like the original trailer link was pulled down. I swapped it with the JoBlo Trailer
