Review: One Cut of the Dead (2017)
I wanted to like this one. I love this concept of a film where a zombie film transitions into a true zombie attack. Romero’s Diary of the Dead (2007) did something similar.
This is also a “found footage” film made without cutting to different shots.
The execution, while a fun gimmick, didn’t hold my attention more than about 45 minutes. The humor worked okay, the setting was interesting but not particularly engaging. The performance and actual story was nothing to really keep my interest either.
Again, while the gimmick was fun, in the end it was a sort of bare-bones zombie film. It is worth checking out as an interestingly-made piece of artwork, but nothing about the characters or story really held my interest.
